“Nothing else so inspires and heartens people as words of appreciation. You and I may soon forget the words of encouragement and appreciation that we utter now, but the person to whom we have spoken them may treasure them and repeat them to themselves over a lifetime.”
–Dale Carnegie
Session 7 Review
Peter Drucker once commented that our organizations don’t need more managers, they need better leaders. I wish he could have been here last week to see how well we are developing our leadership skills!”. In Session 7, we personally validated the relevance of Dale Carnegie’s time-tested approaches to influencing people through: trust and respect; achieving cooperation versus compliance; and discovering the power of finding points of agreement. Based on intentional actions, we saw example after example of how Dale Carnegie’s second set of Human Relations Principles can generate increased collaboration and cooperation.
Session 7A Highlights: Gain the Willing Cooperation of Others
Issues Addressed
- How can I create an environment where people are committed to results, not just compliant to orders?
- What is the synergy between the first set of Dale Carnegie’s Human Relations Principles and the second set??
Session 7B Highlights: Commit to Influence Others
Issues Addressed
- How can we help change the attitudes of others without giving offence or arousing resentment?
- What role must Dale Carnegie’s first two set of Human Relations Principles play if we are to become change agents rather than victims of change?
